Singeetam Srinivasa Rao was born on
21 September 1931 inUdayagiri ofNellore district .He created a new trend in film making and mesmerized audience with his films viz. Pushpaka Vimanam, Mayuri, Taram Marindhi, Vichitra Sodarulu, Michael Madana Kama Raju, Aditya 369, Bhairava Dweepam, Brundavanam, Madam Gatotkacha, Life After Death and many. Singeetam trained in direction department from famous Harindranath Chatopadyaya. Singeetam then worked as assistant director with KV Reddy from 1954 for films like Donga Ramudu, Mayabazar etc. He later on became a director and directed about 60 films in various languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, English. He won many awards for his work including Rastrapati, Nandi and LV Prasad among many.
Singeetam also tried other departments. He used his writing skills and penned a song in Bhairawa Dweepam. He even composed music in Kannada for few Rajkumar's films. It is not an exaggeration to say that Singeetam is always ahead and gave the audience a new feel and thrill with his movies. Kannada Journalists association printed a special book on Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, a rare distinction received only by a few.
Before Singeetam entered movie land, he wrote for magazines like Bharati. He also scripted many plays Brahma, Antya Ghattam, Chitrarajuna etc. His plays always won accolades. His Chitrarajuna was even translated into English and played in Western countries.
