refnum=96001574Gap View Farm, near
Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia , is an historic farm complex whose main house was built in 1774. The property gets its name from its view of the gap in theBlue Ridge made by thePotomac River atHarpers Ferry . The first house at Gap view was a small stone house built by Walter Baker. On Baker's death in 1820 the property passed to James L. Ranson, then to Parker Strode in 1868. In 1871 the property was acquired by Charles Aglionby, who owned the adjoining Mount Pleasant estate and a portion ofMedia Farm . Over time the house was expanded in four phases. citation|title=PDFlink| [http://www.wvculture.org/shpo/nr/pdf/jefferson/96001574.pdf National Register of Historic Places Nomination: Gap View Farm] |1.61 MB|date=June 1996 |author=Jean Crolius Ehman|publisher=National Park Service]The farm includes numerous outbuildings and dependencies.
