High Falls Brewing Company (High Falls) is an American brewery located along the Genesee River in Rochester, New York. Until 2000 the company was known as the Genesee Brewing Company.

According to 2005 numbers, the company is currently the 7th largest brewing company in America when regarding volume of sales. [http://www.citybrewery.com/images/top50.pdf]

History

The Aqueduct Spring Brewery, the first brewery located in Rochester, NY, opened in 1819. [http://www.geneseebrewing.com]

In 1857, Rau & Reisky Brewery, later changed to Reisky & Spies, was established. [http://www.geneseebrewing.com]

In 1932, after the repeal of Prohibition, the company was reopened as the Genesee Brewing Company. [http://www.highfalls.com/]

In 2000, the company was sold to an employee investment group, and the company's name was changed to High Falls Brewing Company. [http://www.highfalls.com/]

The company also unveiled a new corporate website and increased marketing of the Genesee brand of beers.

Genesee Cream Ale

Genesee Cream Ale, Genny Cream Ale, or Creamers is a beer in the Northeastern United States originally brewed in 1960.

Genesee Cream is recognized for winning 2 consecutive gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival [http://www.history.rochester.edu/class/beer/genny.htm] .

Dundee Ales & Lagers

In 1994, Genesee introduced J.W. Dundee's Honey Brown. Honey Brown has proven to be one of their most popular brews. It won a Gold Medal at the 2004 World Beer Cup.

In 2006, a decade after the introduction of Honey Brown High Falls added two new beers to the J.W. Dundee's family: J.W. Dundee's American Pale Ale and J.W. Dundee's American Amber Lager.

In June 2008, the company anounce a re-branding of the J.W. Dundee brand, which is now called Dundee Ales and Lagers [http://www.whec.com/article/stories/S480666.shtml?cat=565] . The company unveiled a new website to the brand

Imported Beverages

High Falls also has an exclusive contract to import Steinlager, a New Zealand lager [http://www.steinlager.com] , Tooheys from Australia, Imperial Cerveza from Costa Rica, and Thwaites from England.

Contract brewing

High Falls brews for both the Narragansett Brewing Company and the Boston Beer Company, maker of Samuel Adams beers.

High Falls is also a regional brewer for Mike's Hard Lemonade and other Malt beverage products, with High Falls Brewing Company producing almost all of the Mike's Hard Lemonade sold to the east coast market.

High Falls has recently received a contract to brew Seagrams Escapes and Seagrams Smooth Malt beverages. This contract serves as a deal by High Falls and Pernod Ricard, owner of Seagrams brands [http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070504/BUSINESS/70504014]
