In 1999, the MCI
Zurich office was founded. Not only did this provide geographical expansion, but theZurich office brought with it expertise in a service that was new to MCI, namely Performance Improvement Programmes (PIP). After this, MCI grew steadily over the next couple of years with the acquisition of two companies based inLyon – Transit Communications and Podiums. Transit Communication brought further PCO and meetings experience, whilst Podiums expanded Geneva’s Event Management expertise and added to the PIP. In link with a strategy of growing across Western Europe and growing new competences, MCI saw new startups in Paris and Stuttgart, but most significantly was the acquisition of GIC Management in Brussels. GIC introduced association management to the company. Because virtually all of GIC’s business was in associations, it also led to the creation of the Institutional and Corporate Divisions.
