The assassination of Congress President Rajiv Gandhi has not been referenced or recreated in popular culture many times. Being a very sensitive issue no one tried to picture this event. But recently Malayalam Film Director Major Ravi filmed a movie about the investigation for Sivarasan, one of the main convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Television and film portrayals
The assassination and the subsequent conspiracy theories surrounding Rajiv's death have been the topic for the first major film related to his death. The movie Directed by Major Ravi was titled Mission 90 Days(2007).
Mission 90 Days
Mission 90 Days is a movie which tells the story of a special officer in charge of the investigation of Rajiv Gandhi assassination. Mammootty portrates the special officer, a National Security Guard (NSG) commando named Major Sivaraman.
The director of the film Major Ravi was an investigator in the Rajiv Gandhi assasination case. Major Ravi was the one who searched down Sivarasan, one of the main convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, and killed him. So this film has given first-ever, in-depth information about the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. The film was a big challenge for Major Ravi because expectations were sky high after his last release Keerthichakra. It was shot at Kochi, Chennai and Bangalore. The film was released on 6th of July. Though the film gained positive reviews it failed to do good at Box-Office. Another interesting factor about this movie is that the makers have used real names for the characters in the movie. They haven't changed the names of Rajiv Gandhi, Sivarasan, Nalini, Thanu etc.hj gfhj fghj hjgfh
