Timothy Martin Thornton

Timothy Martin Thornton (born 14 April 1957 [ Who's Who 2008: London, A & C Black, 2008 ISBN 9780713672576] ) has been the Anglican Bishop of Sherborne [ [http://anglicancommunion.org/tour/cathedral.cfm?IDNUMBER=14755&view=alpha Anglican communion] ] since 2001 [ [http://www.number-10.gov.uk/output/Page2702.asp Official announcement] ] and is now the Bishop Designate of Truro.

He was educated at the University of Southampton and King's College London [ Debrett's People of Today London, Debrett's, 2008 ISBN 9781870520959] . Ordained in 1980 he began his ministry with a curacy at Todmorden followed by a spell as Priest-in-charge at Walsden. He then became Bishop's Chaplain to Bishop Hope: successively at Wakefield, then London. From 1994 until 1998 he was Principal of the "North Thames Ministerial Training Course". His final post before before his elevation to the Episcopate was as Vicar of Kensington.
