Devi Singh Bhati

Devi Singh Bhati

Devi Singh Bhati is a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Kolayat in Rajasthan state in India. He was a cabinet minister in the government led by Vasundhara Raje.[1]

He was born in Barsalpur village in Bikaner and graduated BA before entering politics.

Political life

He has been MLA for Kolayat since 1980 (serving seven terms)[2] and is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which he rejoined in late 2007 after being previously a member of the Janata Dal and Jan Sangh. He has held the cabinet portfolios of tourism and excise, irrigation and animal husbandry.

His son Mahendra Singh Bhati was elected to 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 from Bikaner. His son Mahendra Singh Bhati, also a former MP of Bikaner, died in a road accident in December 2004.[citation needed]
