Vinod Chowdhury

Vinod Chowdhury (d. An alumnus of St. Stephen's College and the Delhi School of Economics, Chowdhury taught economics at his alma mater for more than 30 years, and also served as Head of the Department. In addition to his teaching, Chowdhury founded the Commonwealth Collegiate Society at the college, which trains students in debating and then sends them to compete in other countries within the Commonwealth of Nations. Chowdhury also served as Head of the Staff Council at the school, including a brief stint as the media advisor to the then St. Stephen's Principal Valson Thampu.

Vinod Chowdhury died of cardiac arrest at Sant Parmanand Hospital, Delhi on June 10, 2008, at the age of 58. His funeral was held at Nigambodh Ghat.
