Lamar University , where he was aSouthland Conference all-star in 2000. He was selected by theLos Angeles Dodgers in the 5th round of the 2000MLB Draft and assigned to theYakima Bears . He started 13 games for the Bears during the 2000 season, finishing with an 8-2 record and 2.30 ERA and earning "short season A" All-Star honors.He spent most of the 2001 and 2002 seasons with the Class A
Vero Beach Dodgers in theFlorida State League before being promoted to the Double-AJacksonville Suns in late 2002. In 2003 with the Suns, he went 11-12 with a 3.42 ERA while making a career high 28 starts. He also set a Southern League record by pitching 39.1 consecutive innings without issuing a walk.Totten pitched for the Triple-A
Las Vegas 51s in 2004 and 2005 but after accumulating a 7.12 ERA in 2005 he went bac to Jacksonville for 2006. With the Suns he was 8-5 with a 3.29 ERA in 21 starts, including one complete game shutout and was named to the Southern League Mid-season All-Star Team.He signed with the
Philadelphia Phillies as a minor league free agent in 2007 and pitched for the Double-AReading Phillies and Triple-AOttawa Lynx .He began 2008 with the
Rochester Red Wings in theMinnesota Twins organization but he was released and briefly played with the independentYork Revolution before resigning with the Dodgers and being assigned back to Las Vegas.References
