Julián Alarcón (born 28 January 1888 Asunción, Paraguay, died Asunción, 19 August1957.was a composer and violinist was born in , January 28th, 1888.

First steps

He studied guitar and violín fro 1909 at the Paraguayan Gymnasium.In 1913 traveled to Montevideo, Uruguay, where continued his studies in that difficult instrument. In 1919 edited an album with songs of the Paraguayan folklore.

Career

He acted for more than 20 years in Argentina and Brazil, with the so-called “Guaraní Trio” formed by himself, Carlos S. Caballero and Manuel Moreno.

In 1942 obtained the Paraguayan Atheneum's Compositing Prize with his song “Abandonada” ("Abandoned", in English) and in 1950 at the Ministry of Education and Culture's Contest with his work “Ka’avovei”.

Work

Very prolific creatively, he composed about 300 songs, some of them reached outstanding popularity, his songs “Serenata clásica”, “Nanawa” (a patriotic polca of great aesthetic quality and impressive expressive force), “3 de mayo” (almost a folkloric anthem of Paraguay played by little bands, popular bands and great orchestras), “Nde resa kuarahy’ame” (loving song that with lyrics from Teodoro S. Mongelós takes place in the anthology as the best romantic Paraguayan song), “Recuerdos del Paraguay”, “Sábado ka’aru”, “Alegre amanecer”, “Ha Paraguay”, “Zorzal del Paraguay”, “Tesa yvoty”, “Serenata”, “Marave ndoikói” y “Loma Clavel”.
