Jesus Trail

Jesus Trail

The Jesus Trail is a 120 km hiking and pilgrimage route in the Galilee region of Israel that traces the route Jesus may have walked, connecting many sites from his life and ministry [ [http://edition.cnn.com/2008/TRAVEL/getaways/06/12/israel.jesus.ap/index.html CNN- Trail through Israel traces footsteps of Jesus] ] . The trail begins in Nazareth, and passes through Sepphoris, Cana, the Horns of Hattin, the Arbel Cliffs, the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Tabgha, the Mount of Beatitudes, the Jordan River and Mount Tabor.

The trail was founded in 2007 by Maoz Inon, an Israeli entrepreneur, and David Landis, an American hiking specialist [ [http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0801555.htm Catholic News Service- In northern Israel, walking from village to village, like Jesus] ] . It is currently managed and promoted largely by the work of volunteers, and is a non-profit project [ [http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/956795.html Haaretz- Five Stops in the Galilee] ] .

The trail is free for anyone who wants to hike it and camp along the way [ [http://videos.canoe.ca/?fr_story=f3ea8feedd56ef7667ceaf23d693b3ce6390878b&rf=bm Canoe.ca- On the Jesus Trail] ] . While parts of the trail pass over other trails that have blazes (such as the Israel National Trail), the actual Jesus Trail is not yet blazed.
