The 4th South Korean Presidential Election was one of controversial presidential election marred by election fraud, and it took place on March 15, 1960. It was also the last election of the First Republic. The incumbent president Syngman Rhee was reelected for his fourth term in a landslide victory after his opponent Cho Byeong-ok died just a few days before the election.
Results
With 97% of the voters casting their ballot, Rhee was reelected for his fourth term. However, obvious signs of election fraud led to the April Revolution and subsequent overthrow of Rhee. By-election was held in the same year in August.
