Kata Kärkkäinen (born October 27, 1968 as Minna Katariina Kärkkäinen) is a Finnish author, artist and columnist, who first gained fame as a glamour model and actress. She was chosen as "Playboy's" Playmate of the Month for December, 1988. Her face – with a "Louise Brooks bob" and clear blue eyes – was frequently featured on the cover of Playboy special editions.

After her international modelling career, she started to work as a writer in her native country, first as a television script writer and then as an author. As an author, she has shown maturity and won grudging respect and critical acclaim in Finnish literary circlesFact|date=May 2007.

Ms. Kärkkäinen was married to Johnny Lee Michaels between 1991 and 1996, and has one child with him. She also has another child with Marcello Gentile. Since 2005, she has been married to Janne Janhonen.

Kata Kärkkäinen has an IQ of at least 148 (sd 24) according to Cattell & Cattell Culture Fair IQ test (see Ilta-Sanomat, Oct 5th 2006).
