- Macau Baptist Convention
The Macau Baptist Convention (
Abbr : MBC; cantonese-tjp|t=澳門浸信會聯會|j=ou3 mun4 zam3 seon3 wui6 lyun4 wui6|p=ào mén jìn xìn huì lián huì; Portuguese: Convenção Baptista de Macau) is a cooperative association ofBaptist churches in theMacau Special Administrative Region of thePeople's Republic of China . It was until very recently known as the Macau Baptist Association (Portuguese: Associação Baptista de Macau).It can trace its origins to the work established by the
Triennial Convention missionaries, John andHenrietta Shuck , in 1835 cite book |title=The Story of Our Baptist Missionary Work |last=Bushnell |first=Lorilla E. |authorlink= |coauthors= |year=1909 |publisher=American Baptist Publication Society |location=Philadelphia ] . The first Baptist church was, however, only set up in 1905 when theMacau Baptist Church was planted byCharlton Todd [澳門浸信教會: [http://www.mbc.org.mo/church.htm 本會歷史] (in Chinese)] . A building was purchased in 1927 at theRua Pedro Nolasco da Silva to house its congregation and is today also the headquarters of the MBC [Macao Yearbook 2003: [http://yearbook.gcs.gov.mo/files/yearbook/2003/myb2003ePA02CH14.pdf Religion and Customs] ] .The MBC currently has 6 congregations with 750 members in the territory and is affiliated with the
