Rockland is a village in eastern La Crosse County, Wisconsin, United States, along the La Crosse River. It is part of the La Crosse, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 628 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Rockland is located at coor dms|43|54|22|N|90|55|6|W|city (43.906115, -90.918369)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Rockland has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.4 km²), all land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 628 people, 213 households, and 166 families residing in Rockland. The population density was 1,156.4 people per square mile (449.0/km²). There were 216 housing units at an average density of 397.7/sq mi (154.4/km²). The racial makeup of Rockland was 98.41% White, 0.16% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.48% Asian, and 0.80% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.16% of the population.

There were 213 households out of which 41.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.2% were married couples living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.6% were non-families. 18.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.82 and the average family size was 3.20.

In Rockland the population was spread out with 29.3% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 115.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 123.1 males.

The median income for a household in Rockland was $46,429, and the median income for a family was $50,714. Males had a median income of $31,563 versus $20,357 for females.
