For frogs aboard space rockets, see Animals in space."Rocket frogs is a colloquial term for frogs which are notable for their powerful jumps, with which they suddenly burst away from what they consider a threat. Apart from that behavior and the strong and muscular hind legs, the two groups of "rocket frogs" do not look very much alike.

"Rocket frogs" belong to either of two genera, which are not very closely related as far as neobatrachians go:

* In Australia and adjacent regions, "rocket frogs" are certain species of the genus "Litoria" from the tree frog family (Hylidae). The most well-known member is "L. nasuta", the Striped Rocket Frog or in much of coastal Australia just "the Rocket Frog".

* In the tropical Americas, "rocket frogs" are the genus "Colostethus" from the dart-poison frog family (Dendrobatidae).
