- Henry Levy
Henry Levy was a
photographer , born inNew York City 1922. He attended the George Washington High School in New York, graduating in 1940. Following graduation he earned a Photography Degree fromColumbia University . DuringWorld War II he served in the ninth air force as an aerial photographer. He was the recipient of fourBronze Stars and participated in theD-Day Landing. After 4 years he received an honourable discharge from the service and returned to New York City.He worked for
UPI , theAssociated Press andLabor Press . In his later years he did photography on the coast ofMaine and spent 25 summers taking photos ofMonhegan Island . He also became a stamp dealer. In 1988, Levy moved to Rockland, Maine and in 1992 he moved toPortland, Maine .He was a member of the
American Philatelic Society , the Bureau of Issues Association and the Maine Philatelic Society. He died at the age of 74 in Portland.Henry Levy is the winner of numerous photography awards. In 1998 the
