C. Kyle Ranson

C. Kyle Ranson

Kyle C. Ranson was the President and CEO of InFocus headquartered in Wilsonville, Oregon, until May, 2007. Kyle had been with InFocus since April 2003 originally hired as the Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing, the same title he held at Compaq/Hewlett Packard just months before. Ranson also held executive and other positions at Newberry Data, and Vickers Defense.

Career

Even before working with the people at InFocus, Kyle Ranson had experience with projectors at his old job with Compaq. He had helped the company get into the projector market and compete with the industry leader InFocus.

The team at InFocus originally decided to hire Ranson mainly because they wanted to shift from an emphasis on innovation to marketing of products in the competitive world of digital projectors. Ranson took the place of former CEO John Harker who had led the company since 1992, however Harker still holds the role of Chairman. Ranson likes to think of his management style as very "Team Oriented" and is described by others as being a "Strong Leader" with a "dynamic personalitiy."

The estimated yearly salary of Mr. Ranson is about $567,907 including bonuses. This is about 250,000 dollars less than the chairman John Harker still makes.

On May 16, 2007, InFocus announced that Mr. Ranson would be leaving the company to pursue other interests. Ranson also resigned from the company’s Board of Directors.

Personal life

Kyle was born in Newcastle, England and graduated from Brunel University in 1985 with a major in design engineering and a minor in computer science. He also enjoys scuba diving and worked as a scuba instructor on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. He is currently 42 years old.

Kyle Ranson is also a Trustee of the Oregon chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In 2005 he personally raised $12,837 during the Oregon Multiple Sclerosis bike tour.
