Allegra Stratton is political correspondent for
the Guardian in London. She attendedCambridge University , studying archaeology and anthropology. She has worked as a producer for theBBC , on the foreign desk atthe Times and written forthe Independent andthe New Statesman .She is also the author of the novel "Muhajababes", which explores the youth culture of the Middle East. While she did not coin the term "muhajababe" herself, she did penetrate the contradictions of modern life of young adults in Muslim societies. (The term arises from "mahajababe," itself a term for "veil.")
