Kelly Conlon

Kelly Conlon

Kelly Conlon is an American bass guitarist. He has been a member of Death, Monstrosity, Vital Remains,Infinity Minus One and SAVIOUR (Long Island, NY).At the age of ten, Conlon took up the baritone at school before moving on to the trombone and trumpet, all of which he played in school jazz and concert bands. When he was 18 he started to learn the bass guitar.

Conlon was part of the Florida underground until 1993 when Orlando-based Chuck Schuldiner recruited him to play with the local death metal band Death. He recorded the album "Symbolic" and went on the subsequent international tour until Schuldiner dissolved the band in 1995.

Conlon joined Monstrosity, another Florida death metal band, in 1996 and played on the albums "Millennium" (1997) and "In Dark Purity" (1999) before moving back to New York instead of joining the "In Dark Purity" tour.

His next band was the aggressively anti-Christian atheist death metal band Vital Remains.

On November 1 2002 Conlon became the fifth member of Infinity Minus One, a progressive rock/metal band based in Boston. His decision to join was based solely on hearing demos of the quartet.

Gear

Kelly Conlon used DR Strings exclusively, Kramer bass guitars and Mesa Boogie amps for the recording of Death's albums: Symbolic.

Kelly now uses Conklin basses exclusively as well as DR Strings, Carvin amps/Cabs Blue Note straps and Snapjack cables.
