The Sun (magazine)

"The Sun" is a monthly American magazine of essays, interviews, short stories, poems, and photography. "The Sun" is independent and free of advertising.

Founded in 1974 by Sy Safransky, who first sold the magazine on the streets of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, today "The Sun" is a national publication with nearly 70,000 subscribers in the U.S. and around the world. Writing from "The Sun" has won the Pushcart Prize; been featured on National Public Radio; and appeared in "Best American Essays" and "Best American Short Stories" anthologies.

Upon presenting "The Sun" its Alternative Press Award for General Excellence, Utne Reader said: "No other magazine provides quite the same atmosphere of intimacy as "The Sun." It's a magazine completely unlike any other, always personal, always meaningful, always unexpected."
