Controversy

In late 2006, it was reported that McTernan had been interviewed under police caution [cite web | title=Police quiz Tory donors over cash for peerages | work=Article on www.timesonline.co.uk|url=http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,200-2384632,00.html| accessdate=January 12 | accessyear=2007 ] [cite web | title=PM's aide interviewed in peerage inquiry | work=Article on www.independent.co.uk|url=http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/politics/article2110312.ece| accessdate=December 29 | accessyear=2006 ] under Scotland Yard's ongoing cash for peerages inquiry. McTernan has himself denied these reports.

However, he was questioned 'under caution' by police in January 2007. [ [http://www.mirror.co.uk/catchall/tm_method=full%26objectid=18516514%26siteid=89520-name_page.html Blair duo in honour cop quiz] , Oonagh Blackman, Daily Mirror, 23 January 2007]
