Jillian's was founded in 1985 as a
billiards club located nearFenway Park inBoston, Massachusetts . The club was "named" for a woman named Gillian, who was then thespouse of the establishment's founder. Within several years, the owners opened another branch inSeattle, Washington . By the early 1990s, it had become a competitor of Dave & Buster's, expanding its locations to includerestaurant s,video game s,bowling alley s,nightclub s, andconference room s. By 2000, there were roughly 30 locations in the U.S. and one inMontréal, Québec ,Canada . However, in 2004, JCB Entertainment filed forChapter 11 bankruptcy and sold 20 of their locations. Nine of these stores were sold to Dave & Buster's and re-opened under that name. D&B has refurbished part of these old Jillian's locations as the “Grand Sports Cafe”. Another company, Jillian's Billiards, was established to run some of the remaining locations, including those atUniversal CityWalk inCalifornia andPeabody Place inMemphis, Tennessee . Yet a third firm, Jillian's Management Company, owns the facility atNeonopolis in downtownLas Vegas, Nevada . Recently, it began offering the same $15.95 “power combo″ that is offered at Dave & Buster's. Jillian's of Las Vegas is also used as a concert venue for local bands.External links
