Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, also spelled Bruni-Tedeschi, (born 16 November 1964) is an Italian-French [ [http://cinema.fluctuat.net/valeria-bruni-tedeschi.html Valeria Bruni Tedeschi - Fluctuat.net (in French)] ] actress. She was born in Turin, in the Piedmont region of Italy. Like her younger sister, Carla Bruni, she has settled in France, and was raised bilingual by her Italian parentsFact|date=August 2008. She holds dual French and Italian citizenship. Her brother-in-law, Nicolas Sarkozy, is the current President of France.

Valeria Bruni Tedeschi has acted in many films since 1986, and has recently been a leading member of the cast in several internationally acclaimed movies, such as

* "Time to Leave" (2005) - in which she played the main female role

* "A Good Year" (2006).

She was present at the 2005 Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival, to promote two films she had acted in: "Tickets" (2005), a three-segment movie directed by Ermanno Olmi, Abbas Kiarostami, and Ken Loach, and "Crustacés et Coquillages", a comedy directed by the French duo of Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau.

Directing

Her debut film as a director, "Il est plus facile pour un chameau...", won awards at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003 and at the Ankara Flying Broom Women's Film Festival in 2004 [ [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325030/awards IMDb page of awards for "Il est plus facile pour un chameau..." ] ] . It was also awarded "Le Prix Louis-Delluc" (the Louis Delluc Prize) for Best First Film. In 2007, Bruni Tedeschi directed "Actrices", which won the "Prix Spécial du Jury" at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.
