Phil Mercer is an English radio presenter born in Reigate, Surrey.

He currently presents the Weekend Breakfast show on BBC Oxford 95.2fm [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/oxford/content/articles/2006/01/09/phil_mercer.shtml BBC - Oxford - BBC Oxford - Phil Mercer ] ] .

Career

Phil started in radio reading travel news for (the now defunct) AA Roadwatch in 1994. He then moved to Premier Radio to present first the overnight show, then Drivetime and Breakfast before moving in to programme management.

After seven years at Premier, Phil returned to travel news, working for trafficlink presenting radio bulletins for, among others Virgin, Classic FM and BBC Local Radio.

In 2004 Phil joined BBC Radio Oxford [ [http://www.mediauk.com/radio/298/bbc-oxford-95.2fm BBC Oxford 95.2FM, Oxford and Surrounding Areas - Media UK ] ] as the Afternoon Show presenter and then and now presents the weekend breakfast show [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/oxford BBC - Oxford - HOMEPAGE ] ] . He is a keen walker and leads regular countryside walks for the listeners [ [http://www.chippingnorton.net/NEWS/GLYMEVALLEYWALK.htm Glymevalleywalk ] ] . In April 2008 he made his first television debut for BBC Oxford News on BBC One.
