Rives (poet)

John G. Rives is a performance poet, storyteller, and author, born on Oct. 31, 1968 in Los Angeles County, California. He has appeared on multiple seasons of HBO's Def Poetry Jam [ [http://www.hbo.com/defpoetry/episodes/season4/index.html HBO: Def Poetry - Episode Guide: Season 4 ] ] and was a member of the Def Poetry international tour group. He has also appeared at TED (conference) [ [http://www.ted.com/index.php/speakers/view/id/27 Rives | Profile on TED.com ] ] and has published several pop-up books for children. He co-hosted the television special 'Ironic Iconic America' with Tommy Hilfiger, discussing how pop culture has influenced American tastes and styles.
