Shariff Kabunsuan (former Maguindanao) ,Philippines . It is strategically located in the Northwestern portion of Shariff Kabunsuan. On the north is Matanog Municipality,on the west are the towns of Barira and Buldon, and on the South is Sultan Kudarat,all in the Province of Shariff Kabunsuan. It consists 24 barangays which 15 of them are coastal barangays and 9 inlands barangays. It was created on August 18,1947 through the Executive Order Number 82.Barangays

Parang enjoys a relatively peaceful environment. There is harmonious and cordial relationship between the civilian government and the military. A local peace and order council is in place of Local Government Officials as well as representatives from the military, religious groups, the academe, private and business sector. A council of elders is orgnized and operationalized under the Office of the Mayor. It is a traditional justice system in the locality. Spearheading of the peace and order are the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police. Military unit in the locality under the 37th IB,38th IB,the Provincial Police Office and Municipal Police Station.

Tricycles are the main modes of transport in the municipality. Several shuttle vans and PUJ's provide regular trips to municipalities like Parang-Cotabato City and vice versa;Parang-Balabagan-Marawi City and vice versa;Parang to Barira,Buldon and Matanog.

The presence of Polloc Port in theMunicipality of Parang served not only ARMM but nationwide.
