John Joyce (New Zealand)

John Joyce (1839-1899) was a New Zealand Member of Parliament for Akaroa and Lyttelton, in the South Island.

Member of Parliament

John Joyce represented Lyttelton (1887-90; 1893-99) and Akaroa (1890-93) in the New Zealand House of Representatives (Wilson, p.209).

Born in England, Joyce went to Victoria, Australia in 1854, and then came to New Zealand in 1861 (see Hamer for biographical details on Joyce).

Joyce was a lawyer in Christchurch.
