Horace Crotty

The Right Reverend Horace Crotty (9 October 1886 – June 1952) was a noted liberal clergyman [ [http://134.148.4.164/school/ept/politics/apsa/PapersFV/ANZPOL/Moore,%20Tod.pdf Liberal views] ] , who served as Anglican Bishop of Bathurst from 1928 until 1936. Crooty was educated at Melbourne Grammar School and Trinity College in the same city [Who was Who 1987-1990: London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] . Ordained in 1910 whilst Head teacher of "All Saints' Grammar School, Melbourne" he was Vicar of Ivanhoe, then Rector of "St Thomas, North Sydney" before a period as a wartime chaplain. When peace returned he was appointed Dean of Newcastle where he served until his elevation to the Colonial Episcopate. On the resignation of his see [The Times, Friday, Nov 29, 1935; pg. 17; Issue 47234; col F "Ecclesiastical News Bishop Of Bathurst to resign"] he was appointed Vicar of St Pancras, London [ [http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=64876#s1 Fomer vicars of St Pancras] ] .
