moshav in centralIsrael . Located in theSharon plain on the shore of theMediterranean Sea around 6 kilometres north ofNetanya , it falls under the jurisdiction ofHefer Valley Regional Council . In 2006 it had a population of 399.The moshav was founded in 1933 by immigrants from
Lithuania andPoland , and was named afterAlexander Jannaeus (known in Hebrew as Alexander Yanai). It later absorbed more immigrants fromSouth Africa .The
Kfar Vitkin pier, built in 1938 is located to the north of the moshav. The Altalena was anchored there, and it was used for exportingcitrus fruits.
