History

Getting Started

Esperanza Coffee Group (ECG) was established in 1964 by Enrique Mejia and his family in Matagalpa, Nicaragua Central America as a green coffee wholesaler. Enrique Mejia established ECG's mill where until today coffee is sourced, milled, hand sorted and marketed. ECG specializes in Specialty Coffee [http://www.scaa.org/what_is_specialty_coffee.asp] and Organic Coffee ; which are all Fair Trade [http://www.transfairusa.org/content/certification/licensees.php?category=coffeeI] certified. Esperanza Coffee's Arabica Beans are the best quality, since they grow in high altitudes where only premium beans are cultivated. In 1996, after Enrique Mejia's death, the company was handed down to the management of his sons and daughters.

New Beginning

Soon after their father's death, the Mejia family faced a great challenge: ECG. They knew that that their father had dug the road to success, but it was up to them to pave it and walk it. After an extensive evaluation, restoration, and projection, the Mejia's determined that they would continue their father's legacy and make of ECG a great and honorable company. As this new walk began, ECG began to change and develop in to a fresh new company with new goals, ideas, and realizations. Today, ECG is a well know company that provides coffee to companies big and small in Nicaragua, United States, and the world.
