Gare de l'Ouest/Weststation station

The Gare de l'Ouest/Weststation is one of the metro stations on line 1B of the Brussels Metro. It is currently a minor station on the network but Line 2 is due to be extended to the station in 2009. When the metro network is reorganised in in February 2009, line 1B will be diverted to terminate at the station. 1A and 1B will be renamed 5 and 1 respectively, while line 2 will become a full ring line (Simonis - Simonis). In addition to this, a new line 6 will serve the ring as well as line 1A's current western brach to Roi Baudouin/Koning Boudewijn station. As a part of the Brussels RER project, heavy rail services will also serve the station in the near future, turning Gare de l'Ouest into a major interchange.
