"Broken" is the 118th episode of the television series "Third Watch" and the 8th episode of the 6th season.

Plot Summary

Cruz investigates on a rape case Ty investigates on his father's murder case.

Plot Details

The episode opens up with a politician, Jonathan Daniels, being chased down the road in the middle of the night, and then being raped. When patrolling the streets, Carlos Nieto and Grace Foster find him walking, evidently confused. They take him to the hospital after he denies wanting medical attention. Cruz then shows up, and after talking to him, discovers the fact that he had been raped. The man feels completely defenseless, and plus, he was opening a campaign for self-defense, and now says he can't even defend himself.
Cruz investigates and realizes that Jonathan's credit card had been stolen, and she is able to catch the thief. Jonathan is unable to identify his rapist and Cruz is forced to let him go. She later gets a phone call, from the politician, who is stalking his rapist and plans on killing him. She is able to get to his house in time, and Jonathan tries to escape, but Cruz uses her own experience to persuade him not to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, Officer Davis starts his own investigation concerning his father's death. He goes to prison to talk to his father's killer, only to discover that he was framed, and Finney Sr., Sully and other cops were involved in his murder. Later, the killer, Raymond Morris, is murdered in prison, and it is implied that Cathal Finney was in charge of it.
After Fred's girlfriend shows up at the precinct to tell Faith that her son, Charlie, is missing, she goes ballistic. She looks all over the town, and enraged, calls Fred and accusses him of not taking care of Charlie, and is amazed to find him in her doorstep, waiting for her to come, as he wanted to talk. At first, she scolds him, but then she breaks down in tears.
When Cruz asks Ty and Sasha about the knife found in Mann's murder scene, they both deny telling I.A.B. about it, but what Cruz doesn't know is that Sasha actually works for I.A.B. Sasha investigates about Ty's father, and finds that the file which is in I.A.B. is not the actual file, and goes to talk to a former police officer, who gives her the real one.
Ty confronts Sully about his loyalty to Ty Davis Sr., which enrages Sully, as he had not told the truth before because if he told the truth, Ty's family would not have received the pension they got.
