Cruz is taken to jail and struggles to survive while the paramedics deal with a suicidal woman.
Plot Details
As Cruz is being taken to the penitentiary, we discover that she has no family at all, leading her to be in trouble when in court, she is doomed for not having "any kind of relationship with the community". After her attorney fails to keep her out of jail, she is taken to Rikers, which she takes as a death sentence, as she was responsible for incarcerating many of the women who are there. She is threatened by her jail inmates, who say they will show her what she deserves, and intentionally gets into a fight with them so as to be put in isolation, free from harm.
Meanwhile, John Sullivan is still resistant to havingBrendan Finney around, as he thinks he is responsible for Cruz going to jail, calling him "Rat Junior". The reason for this hatred is revealed at the end of the episode, when Sully tells Officer Davis about how Cathel Finney and Ty's dad were corrupted cops. They used to take money from drug dealers, so when Ty's dad realized they were doing wrong, Finney decided to play the blame game, a bogus anonymous call was made, and Ty's father died.
Meanwhile, Faith is in trial against Fred for her children's custody. Emily steps to give a statement first, but the judge realizes how Emily feels pressured by her mother's presence, and takes both Emily and Charlie to her office, where their parents can not be. As they are waiting, two I.A.B. officers show up and take Faith under custody, which enrages Fred and the judge.
While in Internal Affairs, Cathel Finney pressures Faith to accuse Cruz, and it takes a while for Faith to accept the deal. She ends up confessing how she killed Mann in revenge for Bosco getting hurt, in exchange for full immunity, so she remains free. When Sasha goes to Finney's office, she receives a scold from him for not being able to discover the truth. Finney tells her that he will keep Cruz in jail anyways as she was an accomplice, but Sasha makes him realize how wrong that would seem.
Meanwhile, at the fire station, a new firefighter, Stu Szczelaszczyk, leaves Grace Foster in awe. He was previously a basketball player. Before meeting him, Carlos Nieto said that he was surely ugly, as "all basketball players are ugly", which makes Holly get mad, as she was a basketball player herself while she was young.
Afterwards, they get a 911 call from a supposed drug overdose, and when they show up at the scene, they discover that it was a suicidal woman, but she had only taken an overdose of antacid pills, which would never cause her to die. Carlos immediately wants to leave, but Holly stays and asks questions to the woman, and gives her a help center number. Later, they are called again when a gas leak, caused by the same woman, almost kills her. Again, she says she is just fine and again she had been careless, but Holly suspects that she is suicidal, which is dismissed by Carlos. They take her in a gurney to the ambulance, but as Holly and Carlos argue, the woman escapes.
Later, as Sully and Sasha were patrolling, they notice a young woman sitting on a window ledge. Sasha calls the paramedics while Sully tries to persuade the woman to come inside the house. Meanwhile, Ty and Brendan arrive, and Brendan climbs the stairs and tries himself to be a hero and get the woman down. Both Sully and Brendan are unable to get her down, and she suddenly slips and is left hanging holding on to Brendan's hands. When the firefighters arrive, Stu is in charge of getting the woman down, much to her pleasure. Carlos and Holly take her to the hospital, and she falls asleep while Carlos tries to calm her down.
Cruz is released after Faith's statement, and the two women meet. Faith confronts her, saying that she didn't want Cruz involved, and that she owes nothing to her. She then asks why she helped her, and Cruz says that she would never rat on a colleague. After a short conversation, Cruz leaves in a taxi cab as Faith stands below her umbrella under the rain.
Bosco finally wakes up while Rose is talking to him.Trivia
