(2001) |"19-2000" (sometimes written "19/2000") is a song from the
Gorillaz 'self-titled debut album , "Gorillaz". It was also the second single from that album, released inJune 2001 (see2001 in music ), and the Soulchild remix was the song of choice to headline the soundtrack ofFIFA 2002 game, from Electronic Arts. It peaked at the #6 position in the British charts, and the song samples the drumbeat from "Sing a Simple Song " bySly & the Family Stone . Another version of the song features Redman for the "Blade II " soundtrack titled "Gorillaz on My Mind."The song is remembered for its chorus with the lyrics 'get the cool shoeshine'. The Soulchild Remix was the theme tune to the
Channel 4 show "100 Greatest Kids' TV shows ", broadcast on27 August 2001 . The remix was also featured in a commercial for Icebreakers gum,T-Online , and in theXBOX gameProject Gotham Racing .This is one of the few songs where the character of Noodle is credited for providing vocals.
This song is featured in the online game "The Gorillaz Final Drive".
This song is also featured in the 2008 monster film "
Cloverfield ".This song is also featured in the opening credits to InfoMania.
Tina Weymouth also contributed backing vocals to 19-2000.Track listings

Directed by Jamie Hewlett and Pete Candeland.
The video is animated, both in 2D and 3D. It features the foursome riding in their
Meyers Manx Dune Buggy along a twisted highway, encountering roller coaster loops, a killerUFO (when Murdoc had an idea to pull some hijinx on a church) and a giantMoose (revealed inRise of the Ogre to be anElk ). Murdoc tries to blow up the moose with a pair ofmissile s, but the moose sneezes right before impact, sending them back to the car, which explodes and skids along the highway on fire. The members ofGorillaz appear to have black ash all over them from the blast. (seecartoon physics ). A stylized duck head, an Easter egg in early Gorillaz videos, can be found on the heads of the missiles right before they are sneezed away by the moose. There are two versions of this video, one to fit the original mix and one to fit the Soulchild remix. Both videos are almost identical, except for a few minor changes in order for the two songs to sync up with the video.
Also on the motorway there are signs to the
Overlook Hotel , a reference toThe Shining , and camp crystal lake as a reference to Friday the 13th.Charts
