Malalag is a 1st class municipality in the province of Davao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 119,334 people in 26,069 households. Malalag is stragetically located in the heart of Davao del Sur. Malalag is an argicultural center of Davao del Sur. Its main products are Banana, Cocunut and other fruits and vegetables. Malalag is also a fishing center of Davao del Sur. Many fish cages are lying in Malalag Bay. Malalag is also wealth in mining indusrty. Because of this, the Municipality of Malalag will soon to be a city in year 2016.
In 1955, the barrios of Basiawan, Kibulan and the sitios of Kimatay and Kilalag were transferred from the town of Malita, Davao del Sur to Malalag.[1]
