Empathic distress

Empathic distress

As empathy is about setting yourself in another person's position, the empathic distress is the distress caused by feeling the perceived pain of the other. It seems that this distress can be transformed into the following feelings: empathic anger, feeling of injustice and guilt. These emotions can be perceived as pro-social, and it is argued that they can be seen as motives for moral behavior. [Abstract: Empathy and justice motivation, Martin L.
