Richard L. Hunter

Richard Lawrence Hunter (b. 1953 [ [http://www.academyofathens.gr/ecportal.asp?id=198&nt=18&lang=2 Academy of Athens membership] ] ) is a classical scholar and has since 2001 been the 38th Regius Professor of Greek at Cambridge University.

Education and Academic Career

Richard Hunter was born and grew up in Australia. After graduating at the University of Sydney [ [http://www.usyd.edu.au/news/84.html?newsstoryid=807 University of Sydney News, 2 December 2005] ] , Australia he took his PhD at Cambridge University, subsequently becoming a lecturer at Cambridge and a Fellow of Pembroke College.

In 2001 he was appointed as the Regius Professor of Greek at Cambridge [ [http://www.classics.cam.ac.uk/faculty/staff-bios/academic-research-staff/richard-hunter/ Cambridge University Faculty of Classics] ] in sucession to P. E. Easterling and became a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge [ [http://www.trin.cam.ac.uk/index.php?pageid=321 List of Fellows of Trinity College, Cambridge by date of election] ] .
