Thalun (or "Tharlun Mintayagyi") (ruled 1628-1648) is one of the most revered Kings of Myanmar. He was the ninth King of the Toungoo dynasty which spanned from 1486 to 1752.

He is famous for his serious concern with the welfare of the people. He overhauled the royal administrative system of Toungoo because he realized that poor administration was partially to be blamed for the short disintegration of the Toungoo Kingdom from 1595 to 1605. The religion of the Burmese people, Buddhism, also prospered during his reign and he had good relations with Buddhist monks who were powerful in the predominantly Buddhist Kingdom. He reorganized and expanded the army to a size of over 300,000, to protect the kingdom of Toungoo. The army was able to successfully withstand an invading army from China. He was one of the two Burmese Kings who conducted a revenue inquest of the whole Kingdom..
