Nyaungyan in Upper Burma, Anaukpetlun launched an invasion of the neighbouring region of Lower Burma capturingProme in 1607 andToungoo in 1610. Tenasserim however within a year they were eventually forced to withdraw from the country by combined Portuguese and Siamese forces. Continuing to fortify his control of Burma, Anaukpetlun would eventually be murdered by his own son, who feared retribution from an affair with one of his father's concubines, in 1628.
