New York State ZIP Codes are a numerical system of postal codes used by the United States Postal Service in the state of New York to guarantee a piece of mail is properly directed to its desired location. The basic format consists of five numerical digits.

New York state contains the largest city in the United States and is the third largest state by population. ZIP Codes in the state of New York start with 00501 in the city of Holtsville, New York and end with 14925 in the city of Elmira, New York. New York has 262 P.O. Box ZIP codes, 193 unique ZIP codes, and 1971 standard ZIP codes.

Albany, New York, the state capital, has 50 ZIP codes, starting with 12201 and ending with 12228.

New York City, the largest city in the United States, is located in New York state and has 161 zip codes, beginning with 10001 and ending with11699.
