Brigadier General (Res.) Eival Gilady (
Hebrew : עיבל גלעדי, Born:Israel , 1957) is the CEO of the Portland Trust [ [http://www.portlandtrust.org/Senior_Management.html The Portland Trust: Senior Management ] ] inIsrael , a non-for profit foundation established to foster peace and stability in theMiddle East through the use of bespoke economic tools and mobilization of international resources.Gilady is also the President of VANADIS LTD providing "Strategy Beyond Borders", and Chairman of the Western Galilee College [ [http://www.wgalil.ac.il/ תואר ראשון | מכינה | לימודי חוץ והמשך - המכללה האקדמית גליל מערבי ] ] located in
Acre and offering higher education in Israel's periphery.Gilady is also Chairman of KIEDF [ [http://www.kiedf.org/home/index.html KORET Economic Development Funds ] ] ,a foundation using unique models that provide economic incentives for private-sector business growth to help people help themselves to financial stability.
In addition, Gilady is the Honorary Consul of the
Republic of Slovenia inTel Aviv , which recently concluded its Presidency of the European Union.Gilady was appointed Head of Coordination and Strategy at the Office of Prime Minister
Ariel Sharon in March 2005, and from 2001 to 2004 he served as Head of theIsrael Defense Forces ' Strategic Planning Division [ [http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/templateC07.php?CID=203 Events ] ] . His responsibility in this position encompassed strategic net assessment and all areas of politico-military policy recommendations, including the securityaspects of the peace process & peace talks. A Brigadier General in the IDF, Gilady had a distinguished military career spanning three decades – commanding field units for twenty years, and serving an additional ten years at the General Staff.Gilady earned his Bachelor’s and three Master’s degrees from
Haifa University ,National Defense University andGeorge Washington University , in the areas ofResources Management ,Policy Analysis , National Security Strategy, andPublic Finance . From 1999 to 2001 he was assigned as a research fellow at theHoover Institution and the Center for International Security and Cooperation atStanford University .Eival Gilady lives on Kibbutz Cabri in the Western Galilee and is married with four children.
