- Shi' naasha'
"Shi' naasha'" ("I am going" [ [http://www.hku.hk/linguist/program/world9.html Languages of the World] ] ) is a Navajo song, composed in 1868 to commemorate the release of the Navajo from
internment atFort Sumter . [cite book|title=The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music|chapter=Overview|pages=366-373|last=Heth|first=Charlotte] The song's lyrics express the elation of the Navajo people on the occasion of their return to their homeland. Unlike most other Navajo songs, "Shi' naasha'" is almost entirely translatable - there are few syllables that can not be replaced with an English word of the same meaning. The text of most Navajo songs is untranslatable. The word "ho'zho'ni"' ("beauty") is used throughout the song.
