(2005)"R. Borlax" is the first full studio album by
HORSE the band , released in 2003 onPluto Records . It was re-released on2007 , with two bonus tracks, byKoch Records .As with all "HORSE the band" recordings, the use of keyboards to mimic the 8-bit sound produced by the
Nintendo Entertainment System is very notable. The album has strong ties to many titles from theNintendo franchise. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the band have coined a new sub-genre from this style dubbedNintendocore ; KeyboardistErik Engstrom has been known to voice his disapproval of musical genres in interviews so this new classification, like so much of HORSE the band's work is probably parody and/or sarcastic.Track listing
