December 29 ,1983 ) is one of the two vocalists in WelshPost-Hardcore band, The Blackout. He is close friends withIan Watkins of the bandLostprophets , and has contributed guest vocals on theLostprophets song, Everyday Combat. Sean has been straight edge for several years due to musical heroes of hisIan Watkins andDaryl Palumbo following this life style. He has often stated his passion and love for the now mostly defunct rock sub-genre nu-metal, citingLimp Bizkit as one of his biggest influences today.Once a member of the locally very popular
When Reason Sleeps along withthe guns singer Alex and bassist Tom,Jump The Underground's Antony, Dopez andFrom Ruin's Ryan. With When Reason Sleeps and The Blackout, Sean became a popular character due to his sheer friendliness and willingness to talk to absolutely anyone. With both bands he's played shows with the likes of Lostprophets, Funeral For A Friend, Douglas, Eighteen Visions, Men, Women And Children, The Used, Story Of The Year, and many others. In April 2005, When Reason Sleeps played their unannounced and unscheduled final show in Cardiff's Toucan Club, support that night came from Shape Of My Addiction, Along Came Man, and My Little Murder.
At this time, the other members of Ten Minute Preview who were to become The Blackout were finishing educational courses or other ties and personal commitments so the timing was perfect for Sean and The Blackout to push for success.Playing regular shows in Cardiff's Barfly and Clwb Ifor Bach with the likes of Covergirl, Dopamine, Kids In Glass Houses, Adzuki and Days In December, they began to earn more and more popularity within the local music scene.
Much like many other lead vocalists of modern rock and alternative bands, Sean Smith has slowly gained a high rank of popularity within the alternative society, much like Oliver Sykes of
Bring Me The Horizon . His presence on the online networking website MySpace has helped to develop and achieve this, along with his friendly and outgoing attitude. There is also a t-shirt available within The Blackout official merchandise where Sean Smith is the main art design. It's called Sean With A Gunn, and shows an image of Sean holding a gun and looking like a modern gangster/gun thug.
