MAX is the name of a bus rapid transit (BRT) line operated by Utah Transit Authority (UTA) that opened on July 14, 2008. The line connects Magna Township and West Valley City with UTA's TRAX light rail system in South Salt Lake, traveling on 3500 and 3300 South. It is the first of several BRT lines that UTA is planning in the Salt Lake Valley.cite web |url=http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=3752722 |title=UTA set to unveil speedy MAX bus route |accessdate=2008-07-13 |authorSalt Lake Tribune= |date=2008-07-13|publisher=KSL.com]

Costs for the project totaled $17 million; a light rail extension along the same route would have cost $100 million. Each of the 14 stations along the MAX route were designed by University of Utah architecture studentscite press release |title= Say Hello To MAX, Utah's First Bus Rapid Transit Line |publisher=Utah Transit Authority |date=2008-07-11 |url=http://www.rideuta.com/mediaRoom/pressReleases.aspx?pressReleaseID=800 |format=HTML |accessdate=2008-07-13] .
