"The Beach Nut" is the 11th animated cartoon short subject in the "Woody Woodpecker" series. Released theatrically on October 16, 1944, the film was produced by Walter Lantz Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures.

Plot

The film opens in medias res with vacationer Wally Walrus beating Woody Woodpecker into submission on a beach boardwalk. Wally explains to the gathered crowd what happened earlier to provoke his anger:

Wally decides to go to the beach to relax, but is constantly disturbed by beachgoer Woody.

"The Beach Nut" marked the debut of Woody Woodpecker's first steady foil, Wally Walrus. Voiced by actor Hans Conried, Wally would become Woody's primary arch ememy steadily through to 1948, before being more or less replaced with Buzz Buzzard in "Wet Blanket Policy".
