The Albany City School District (also known as the City School District of Albany) is the public
school district of Albany,New York . It has twelve elementary schools, three middle schools, one comprehensive high school, and several other institutions of various types serving nearly 10,000 students. The district's offices are located in Academy Park, across the street from theNew York State Capitol . The current superintendent is Dr. Eva C. Joseph. In recent years, a number of newcharter school s have opened in Albany, placing increasing financial pressure on the district.
