It is also known as the golden deepsea crab, and was formerly called "Geryon fenneri". Its closest relatives are the snow crab and king crab and similar to them, it can not swim. Like the blue crab, its name comes from the color of its shell; it is usually cream to tan in color. It is generally found on the ocean beds in the tropical regions of the Atlantic Ocean. This crab is large, with a carapace similar in size to a dinner plate.
