- Braunauer Zeitgeschichte-Tage
The Braunau Contemporary History Days are a series of conferences organised by the association for contemporary history. Scientifically guided by
Andreas Maislinger , it has annually taken place inBraunau am Inn since 1992.After conferences about the coping with the past, resistance in dictatorships and other topics concerning contemporary history, the association for
contemporary history has tried to trigger a stronger preoccupation with theInnviertel and the borderingBavaria since 2004 through its conferences. In 2004, the conference dealt with the "Small Border Traffic" alongside the Salzach] and the Inn] from 1933 to 1938, the "Great Politics" as well as the daily life along the interface of two political systems, whose differences and similarities were also discussed.
From the 23rd to 25 September 2005, the historical background for the "Parliament of Braunau" of 1705 was analysed, which, for a short time, united nobility, clergy, bourgeois and farmers under the slogan "Die Bavarian rather than decay in an Austrian way".
In 2006, the conference was devoted to
Johann Philipp Palm : The bookseller fromNuremberg was shot in August 1806 inBraunau onNapoleon I's orders. In 2007,
Egon Ranshofen-Wertheimer was commemorated. Born in 1894 in Ranshofen and deceased in 1957 inNew York , the prominent state scientist was diplomat of theLeague of Nations and theUnited Nations .
